A man’s talent for playing a 1990’s video game makes him famous in the Los Angeles arcade community. Zac Weathers and Brooke Palmieri direct “Time Crisis,” a vivid documentary capsule of the physical arcade space following one of its most devout patrons. Recognized in the leaderboards as “E.E.,” Eddie Esguerra is a master of the first-person shooter game, Time Crisis. He’s loved it since childhood and each level comes as muscle memory. Viral videos and an appropriate wardrobe garner attention, yet he’s too humble to recognize himself as one of the best players in the world. Nostalgic for the 30-year-old game and its fading social surrounding, it’s a celebratory portrait of Esguerra and his place as a performer and preservationist. -JM. Cast: Eddie Esguerra. Directors: Brooke Palmieri and Zac Weathers. Producers: Zac Weathers, Brooke Palmieri, Sam Sandweiss, Sean Huntley. Director of Photography: Brandon Somerhalder. Sound: Gabe Linkiewicz. Post Sound: Enrique Bencomo. Color: Stephen Derluguian.
