Drama, Short Films, 11-Oct-2022
Across a freezing night, confused dropout Cooper Townsend tries to make it home. “Townsend’s Last Night,” directed by Rhys Scarabosio, is a chaotic, lo-fi fever dream about a young man who has lost his way. Left desperately clinging to his only refuge — scribbling lyrics in an old notebook — the well-meaning but socially anxious Cooper rambles the outskirts of Boston looking for a way out of the cold. Fired from his job, and feeling like an idiot and failure, Cooper has a demoralizing run-in with an ex-girlfriend before descending further into the night. The dark vision is carried by a skittery lead performance and punctuated with expressive bursts of music. -KA. Writer, director, editor: Rhys Scarabosio. Cast: Jaden Cruz, Albert Kim, Jessica Apatow, Talia Smith, Gabriella Gonzalez, Dimitri Giannopolous, Pierce Eldredge, Skyler Celotto, Ian Butterfield. Cinematographers: Rhys Scarabosio & Ben Turok.
