Drama, Short Films, 10-Sep-2024
A Russian immigrant looks for life beyond busking at the Brighton Beach boardwalk. Theo Belci’s “End of the Boardwalk” offers a momentary look at moving to a new place and the obstacles that come with acclimating. To stay afloat financially, the young woman busks on the Brighton Beach boardwalk with her microphone and some side-to-side swaying. Struggling with stage fright and making less than she hoped, she contemplates a change of plans. Back at the apartment, her roommate bums around in her living space and makes sure she knows about rent. The lo-fi, black-and-white production is a restrained slice-of-life portrait that captures its setting and predicament with poetic simplicity. -JM. Director: Theo Belci. Cast: Daria Aksenova, Theo Belci, Owen Belci, Mila, Nina. Executive Producer: Eli Harrell.
