Ten & Two

A harmless driving lesson quickly turns into a survival lesson on police encounters. “Ten & Two,” directed by Travis Wood, is a vignette about a mother and teenage son in the suburbs preparing for the inevitability of racial profiling. On a test drive, the son misses a stop sign and rattles the nerves of his mom. She halts the driving lesson and intensely instructs him how to handle a run-in with law enforcement. Wood is a NoBudge veteran, having been featured five times previously (see playlist below) — with the sober drama of “Ten & Two,” he’s operating in a different mode than his previous work, which often led with a light comedic touch and played with forms of experimental film, animation, and puppetry. The new one is a step toward straightforward narrative and a more serious tone, compelled by the severity of the subject matter. -KA. Written & Directed by Travis Wood. Starring Shá Cage, Ellis Dossavi-Alipoeh. Produced by Travis Wood, Amanda Krueger, Sean Hanley. Co-Produced by Meerkat Media. Director of Photography: Sean Hanley. Editor: Winnie Cheung. Music By Max Moran. Assistant Director: Alex Mallis.
