In a flashback, a woman is accused of over-narrativizing her life and makes that accusation into a narrative. Summer Benotwitz’s “Difficult Woman” is a two-minute snapshot of a couple amidst a peevish argument. In a Los Angeles bar, the couple (played by Lily Lady and Cameron Cowperthwait) meet for a coffee. The man orders an ice cream sundae and tells his girlfriend he wants more of an investment in their relationship. The woman responds by stating that her focus at the moment needs to be with her career. They go back and forth and can’t get through to one another (the quarrel is narrated by comedian Madi Hart). The voice-over and an immersive sound design captures the spiky exchange of a relationship on the rocks. -JM. Writer/Director/Editor: Summer Benowitz. Cast: Madi Hart, Lily Lady, Cameron Cowperthwaite. DP: Ryan Alva.
