Mad
Drama, Short Films, 05-Dec-2025
A young misfit in New York City runs around the city intensely colliding with friends, family and strangers. Cricket Brown directs “Mad,” an unnerving look at a woman caught in a vice-induced loop. On the subway, Mandy texts Mary, an older bartender she’s in love with but doesn’t get a response. Paranoid of on-lookers, she hallucinates a man murmuring cryptically on the subway. Later, she makes a stop at her grandmother’s apartment, pocketing some cash and dissing the caretaker. Afterwards, she meets her friend Sam at a dance audition where the two plan their night, beginning it with pills. Conflicts under the influence reoccur, and, when Mandy tries to make amends with Mary, she finds herself in a dire spot. As in previous shorts we’ve featured starring Brandy Lynn Divine (“GINGER BOY and The Purpose of Life on Earth” and “Pair of Dice”), she delivers a compelling performance playing a character on the fringe. -JM.
