Max Distance
Comedy, Short Films, 31-Aug-2026
Stuck in Zoom meetings all day, a programmer daydreams about the stranger next door. Marissa Goldman directs “Max Distance,” a romantic comedy where questionable attempts to court a crush backfire. Erica spends most of her day sitting in work calls and watching slideshows for her remote job. In her periphery, a large window shows the world as it turns. She’s particularly infatuated with Nat, her neighbor across the street, and his everyday oddities—he mostly talks to himself and a Bearded Dragon named “Deirdre.” Distance makes the heart grow fonder, and Erica embarks on a spiraling scheme to make something between them spark. Her character’s questionable string-pulling aside, Anna Seregina is a treat to watch in Goldman’s endearing account of a romantic pursuit. -JM. Written/Directed by Marissa Goldman.
