When the conniving understudy of a theater group knocks off the lead actor, he finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse with New York City's greatest police detective. “Inspector Ike,” directed by Graham Mason, is a comedic murder-mystery directed in the form of a 1970s TV-movie. At “The New York Avant-Garde Theater Company,” Harry Newcombe (played by Matt Barats) has his eyes on the lead role for their upcoming play. However, as a mere understudy to the famed Chip Conrad, the chances of attaining the role are low. Harry decides to take matters (and lives) into his own hands. Upon Conrad’s murder, Harry entangles others in his scheme including his own wife and another unexpected accomplice. Inspector Ike (Ikechukwu Ufomadu) is called to the case. Culprits are clear from the get-go, but questions still linger. Will Ike crack the case? Who will Harry hurt next? Inspired by a tried and true format, Mason brings fresh blood with a studded cast of familiar faces. -JM. Directed by Graham Mason. Written by Graham Mason, Ikechukwu Ufomadu.
