Crushed by the tedium of her daily routine, a business woman takes a leap of faith. Directed by Candice Vallantin, this experimental dance film from Madrid, Spain is notable for its use of sound and rhythm to highlight the monotonous patterns of modern life. Her name is Clara. She gives a fake smile to the mirror every morning presumably hoping it will lead to a real one, but the real one isn’t coming. She’s stuck and anxious, and as the days pass, the everyday sounds turn nightmarish until she reaches her breaking point. Punchy sound design, sharp editing, and a dynamic lead performance lead the way in this ode to breaking free.
Written, directed and produced by Candice Vallantin. Starring Marina Santo. D.P.: Israel Seoane. Sound Designer: Quino Piñero. Editor: Israel Seoane. Music: Manuel Morales.
