A recent graduate poaches rare books from his geriatric roommate. Sam Brodsky directs “Mint Condition,” a NYC story tracking a young Irish lad in his quiet quest through a niche enclave of the literary world. Oscar makes breakfast for his roommate and landlord, Jerry. They sit across from each other, engulfed by stacks of Jerry’s vintage books. Little does the old-timer know, Oscar has been quietly listing them for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He meets with a buyer named Cindy, a writer herself, at her apartment. She offers some fiery insights, and may have an opportunity for Oscar. The young man copes in his own way, tempted to expand his relationship with the literary world. Luan Rogers, who plays Oscar, remains low-key in his deliveries. High-contrast imagery and a composition of guitar, brass, and somber humming set a melancholy mood. -JM. Director: Sam Brodsky. Cast: Luan Rogers. Mike Meth. Betty Bonjean. Faith Harper. DP: Joji Baratelli. Assistant Director: Julia Petrocelli. Editor: Willa Troy. Costume: Lucia Pompetti. Key PA: Milo Straghalis.
